It’s that time of the week. Week Eats is your friendly meal plan. Okay, really it is all for the sake of my poor husband who has been married almost six years and eaten by the skin of his teeth every single night. As in, it’s 4pm and no meat is defrosted đ See our other volumes here. Your part? Comment with what you’re eating or link your blog post about food. Help each other find new recipes! And without further ado, these friendly recipes are coming mostly from my awesome Whole Parenting No Sugar 30 Facebook group. I am loving the supportive atmosphere for kicking refined sugar to the curb. Way to go, group! My salads this past week? Some good some bad. I…
READ MORE“How can you say there are too many children? that is like saying there are too many flowers in the garden of God.” I listened to this song about ten times by watching the youtube video. I was crying, of course. Danielle Rose is a familiar singer//song writer to me through my Godmother, of all people. Danielle is about my age, I’m sure we have friends in common through the small Catholic world. But I hadn’t heard of her until my Godmother gave me her music where she’s singing the rosary when I was in law school. My Godmother, God rest her soul, was an incredibly sassy and saintly woman. I miss her warmth no-BS approach to life and still listen to that sung rosary…
READ MOREAre you wondering if your parenting is inadequate? Well, I hate to be the one to tell you, but it is. You’re an inadequate mother. And I am too!! Nothing brings this realization closer than spending 12 hours with three children under the age of five. I know these are both the easiest and the hardest years of parenting, so I’m cool without the reminder that they will grow up so fast and just wait til she’s a teen. I also know that I only have three irrational kids so my friends with more–I’m on easy street. Let’s throw in that I’m not currently pregnant and therefore not throwing up everywhere all the day long. In an ideal world: we would all have a nice sleep, awaken…
READ MOREHey gang! Welcome to Week Eats. It’s my weekly comment & linkup post about what you’re planning on eating this week. As you probably know, me & over 100 friends are doing a No-Sugar 30 where we are being conscious about the processed added sugar in our diet and giving it the boot in an effort to stop the addiction. Naturally occurring sugars in fruit, honey, pure syrup, dates, coconut, etc are just fine. The point is not to be an extremist, but rather to identify all the hidden (and not so hidden) sugar portions in our lives and lessen them for a healthier us. Join the Facebook group. Follow the pinterest board. Back to what we’re going to eat around here this week. I…
READ MOREI really love sugar. I mean, come on, my mom is an amazing baker. It’s always around: the fudge, the caramels, the cookies, the chocolate cake. Feast your eyes on THAT: Sigh. Wiping my mouth off. Okay, so after finding myself eating stale marshmallows in the pantry in the dark (they weren’t even close to good), I think I hit my sugar bottom. This desire to eradicate unhealthy sugar from my diet is also largely informed by new science indicating your gut bacteria have a big influence on what you crave. Read the full article here, but my layperson’s takeaway is that when you eat a lot of a particular food (in my case, sugar), your gut bacteria is populated with sugar-bacteria. If that reigns…
READ MOREToddlers. So cute. So lethal. Cue the long exhale. When I was first a mom of a toddler I died a thousand deaths, each and every day. I agonized over what to do when he protested naps. I texted my husband a billion times If he doesn’t stop screaming I’m going to die//can i die from listening to his whining//breakfast for dinner again–we fought all day and I’m too exhausted to cook//will he ever grow up or will he whine at college?? It was so hard to accept that my toddler couldn’t accept the word “no” nicely. It was so hard to hear the streaming of whining emanating forth from his frothy mouth. My brain face palmed a dozen times a day. You see, I was…
