7 small shop gifts for Christmas

I love shopping for other people. I really truly do. I love giving gifts!!! I also love supporting small businesses and organizations I believe in. My last minute, shop small, gift list. So I made my list of seven places to shop that aren’t amazon. Not to hate on the great ‘zon, but these are special.

Support your local maker, mama, monk.

1) Brooklyn Herborium

Just a few of my favorite things from my sister Molly. I douse my kids twice a day in her oils and balms. It’s the only protection against the harsh Minnesotan winter (plus my daughter’s eczema gets BAD without her products). She’s running a buy 5, get 1 on a few of her hot sellers. Okay, they’re all hot sellers, but these ones are SO great.

2) Natti Natti

And a friend of Molly’s, Shannon, whom I so respect and admire, has launched her Natti Natti line!! Hand-designed organic cotton innovative and beautiful children’s products. This bedding !!! I’m looking at one she sent over right now and can’t wait to do a full review in January when I talk to you about how we revamped the kids’ room. Support a hard working mom of two:

4) Kiki Koyote

Another local artisan friend is a master jewelry maker. I may have ordered a pair for a sister’s birthday . . . Molly, feign surprise. Kris at Kiki Koyote really impresses me with her innovative designs. I feel so drawn to the simplicity and gravity of them–it all says “I’m an amazing woman of substance and you should know my beauty and strength.”

5) Monks of Norcia

And monks. Monks of Norcia! What would a gift guide for supporting the small endeavor be without my favorite monks in the mix? They were kind enough to send over a few copies of their 2016 calendar. The photographs are breathtaking and they may following along with either the new rite or old easy with feast days in both versions, specific Benedictine saints, and holy days. The kids looked at their 2015 one every single (no joke) day since we were lucky enough to host them here last year.

6) Shop the Haul

My sweet girlfriend Blythe and her friend Noelle run this instagram auction-style treasure vintage finder shop. It’s like if you had a personal shopper for vintage goods. So SHOP THE HAUL! I have quite a few times and loved everything I got! I found theeeeee perfect gift for my brother in law on here. Go get your treasure. It’s every Wednesday!

7) Once Upon a Nativity

A local girlfriend, Ashleigh, who is a photographer is also an author of a children’s book to help prepare the child for Christmas, all throughout Advent. Check out her kickstarter here to support it and get it printed for next year! Ebooks available this year! A lovely way to finish off the last week of Advent.
