little slice of swedish kid clothing heaven {review & big giveaway}
Shhhh . . .
POLARN O. PYRET.
Did your heart just skip a beat? This store is the Swedish clothing store for kids. Especially outdoor wear. I mean, you know how the Swedish have long recess times outside even in the winter? This store is why. It’s outdoor wear heaven.
And when you live in the land of the frozen tundra, you need gear. GEAR. gear. This store in the Galleria Shopping Center in Edina is their only location in the Midwest. I think they thought we’d get it. And we do.
I contacted them after a long-time crush on their wool numbers and organic cottons, and that signature stripe you just can’t deny love for, and was happily surprised to hear back. They kindly offered for my brood to come and courtesy shop and then share the goods with my readers.
Low. Down. I want everything in their store!!!!!
It went like this:
And eventually he got lost in the train set–what a clever thing to have in your store! Keeps the kids happy while parents peruse the lovely offerings. And Diane & I got to chat. She gave me a very thorough and very helpful tour of the store, with an emphasis on kids’ outwear. Because, #seeabove, it’s autumn and you know what that means.
The stripes! the stripes! (Don’t worry–scroll to the bottom & you can win one of your own!) Organic cotton. Oh, yes, please!
SweetPea wanted the socks. She wanted all the socks. It was devastating to her that she simply couldn’t take them all down. And the prospect of that event was devastating to me. So we’re even. She also wanted to get into my sling. That was not happening.
Diane and Abby were both so patient with me + three + my mom who I kept telling take more pictures of us talking. To which she kept replying i think I AM doing that.
Their layers zip and snap into one another, so you can get your fall fleece and then build it into your winter coat, which is a shell that then is your spring rain jacket. Amazing. There were so many little details the designer thought of–thumb holes for kiddos sliding their fleece layer into their outer shell. Velcro on the hood to secure it from falling into the kiddos’ faces. And eco-conscious, often organic if possible, recycled at times, high quality materials.
Their mittens, hats, gloves, scarves, everything is well thought through for all seasons and all the various needs of the seasons. Wool and cotton. And you know I love both.
They’re also having an outerwear sale through October 19. Did I say sale?? Yup. Shop the sale if you like. Me like.
Then come the wools. Merino wool. Machine washable. Breathable. A great and necessary layer in the winter. PJs, or worn as play clothing. Whatever works to stay breathably warm! We’ve bought this before and they lived in it. And BabyLoves is swimming in infant-sized woolies!
These hats!! On sale for $15!
The little girl outfits. Enough to make me brave enough to have another baby in case she’s a girl?
The little boy you couldn’t pry away from the train set in the shoppe. So smart and so kind to have this built-in entertainment. Until they started fighting over the trains. Cannot win them all.
And the little girl who was sick and tired of me perusing the entire selection and wanted to go home. Why was she shoeless? No clue. She was on NuNu’s watch at this point. She looks like one of those movie star’s children that’s purposefully disheveled and in the airport. She just needs the oversized shades, clutching the train in question.
Diane helped me pick out two items for you & two for my kiddos. By this point I’m sure the lovely ladies who manage the shoppe were glad we were heading out of there as my poor children were alternating between wailing and whining. BabyLoves may have spit up a little. Good thing he was wearing one of my Bandit Bibs! Truly, these ladies were so lovely and sweet and gave us time and help and loads of patience. Thank you, ladies, for your expertise!
And thank you, Polarn O. Pyret!
The big reward after surviving it all: organic froyo. One child’s serving. Split in two. Mama had a healthy taste test for them. Do you spy a little Lily-Jade purse?? Me too!
What we took home: much needed wool pants for both SweetPea & SuperBoy. They’re good on tops for now, but their little bottoms in the winter! Oh! See their whole merino base layer line here.
Now for you, dear readers. Two items! One winner!!
The first is their Best Basic Eco Windfleece Bunting made with recycled plastic-turned-into-poly and lined with organic cotton. Its double zipper makes for ease of zippering, and the hands & feet cuff in. Runs true to size or larger: 4-6 months! ($71 now on sale from $89!)
The second is their Classic Stripe Wrap Bodysuit in organic cotton. It’s delicious. I mean, really. It’s sized 4-6 months as well. ($32)
Raffling. Hedge your bets!
I absolutely love that bunting in the giveaway – I’ve got 5 month old twins who have never experienced the cold, and will need to seriously bundle up this year!
I like the idea that they carry winter wool tights. We live in Montana, and the winters are very cold here. Plus, I like my girls to wear dresses to mass, and these would keep their legs nice and toasty.
I love long sleeve play dresses for little girls. The Dotty Fall Twirl Dress is my favorite for Lucia.
There is too much to choose from. I would love to win the giveaway, especially because I am due to have my third little boy on January 3rd. Currently, I am interested in the wear everywhere jacket for my 4 year old son.
Since we’re all about twirling right now, any of those pretty twirl dresses would be right up our alley!
I’m loving the newborn little toadstool pocket dress lol
I think I should probably move to The Cities just to be close to that store 🙂 Thanks for introducing my family to that beautiful line of kiddo gear!
I love the performance snowsuits for toddlers. Hopefully we won’t have a polar vortex again.
Love the wool pants that are solid and stripe! Too cute and would be perfect for baby girl coming this winter! Thanks for the giveaway Nell!
Nell,
Your blog has grown so much! So fun to watch you take off. Your kids are beautiful. These pics are so fun. Oh, and I would love to win the giveaway! 🙂
Getting ready to have a winter newborn ’round these parts so the stripe-y bodysuit, for sure!
She had me at Merino wool
I never heard of this store before, but that red striped long sleeve onesie is adorable. Pretty sure my new little guy needs one!
The bunting and the bodysuit! My niece was just born last night 🙂 and our little boy is due in December. Definitely need to bundle those little loves up for the coming MN winter!
Ok this is terrible that I’m shopping for myself, but who could resist the adult section broken into “mom” and “dad”??? And I cannot resist their inspired signature eco stripe legging. Organic cotton, drool….
Oh my goodness, I am IN LOVE with the merino wool base layer line! That is what I have always wanted for my boys!! Only.In.Dreams….
I love it all! The stripes!
Would love these warm goodies for baby #2!
Ah! Now THIS is how children should be dressed!
My heart DID skip a beat! For the wool especially. Alaska needs this store! I think my little chunker girl will be too big for these though, so I’ll leave the goods for someone else.
I love this line! The bunting is darling, but I also really like the wear anywhere jackets — the tan especially. Thank you! Analise
This is an awesome giveaway and I had no idea they had a MN store! I’ve eyed them from a distance (mostly from Design Mom’s recommendation) but haven’t purchased anything yet. I like that their slogan is not for girls, not for boys, but for children! Love it! New baby coming this winter would love these new clothes 🙂
Their clothes are beautiful! Here’s to hoping!
Lovely to know about them!! Thank you!
The onesies – love the spotty dot henley, and the classic stripes! Thank you for hosting this giveaway!
I own a few of their clothing items in the newborn sizes. Amazing quality!
i like the spotty fox dress for my daughter
I feel like current babe is already too behemoth for this adorableness, but that bunting is adorable! Never heard of this store before – glad to be introduced to it!
I’ve ordered numerous items from Polarn O. Pyret. I love that their clothes are so true to size and wear so well. I love their leggings for my little girl. She has long legs and they are just the right length for her. I’ve only ordered online but I have my first trip to their Edina store planned for this Thursday. Little girl is in need of a new winter coat.
I have never heard of this store before – thanks for the heads up! We live in SD and my kids insist on being outside on even the coldest of days.
I WANT IT ALL. seriously, i’ve ogled their stuff online soooo many times. i am one of those moms who’s obsessed with keeping children warm when outside. their inside layers are to die for.
LOVE Polarn brand! The best quality ever!
Love all their clothes & style!
I never knew about this company. I dress my kids in a lot of used Hanna Andersson stuff, and this looks similar. I love the stripes! (I grew up in HA, too.) I don’t need heavy winter gear, but gosh the organic cottons stuff is cute.
That bunting would be fantastic for our next kiddo!!
Love! I have been soo wanting some wool clothing for our clan, since we live in Wisconsin and can appreciate these!
My two year old is in desperate need of a new winter jacket (his hand-me-down jacket from his older brother is WORN OUT!) and I love the Pile Fleece Lined School Jacket. It looks so warm and cozy.
Love this line! Thank you!!!

The merino wool base layer line is very appealing.
Bunting, is super adorable.
Love the buntings! Perfect for my newborn in this MN fall!
I love all the signature stripe stuff! Can’t resist a good stripe 😉
There is so much to choose from, but I would have to go with some merino wool for my babies. Upstate NY gets cold during the winter!
The toadstool dress. So cute!
My favorite item is the PILE FLEECE LAYERING ROMPER (BABY)
the baby girls spotty fox dress is absolutely adorable! my little one would rock that!
I mean, those red striped leggings +red striped top are c-u-t-e, but Ryan would also be toasty in one of the parkas. Such a cute giveaway!
