where I stash the wriggling standing baby while I run to the freezer {review & giveaway Go-Pod!}

kidco giveaway

A few months back I posted a pic to my instagram account of BabyLoves chilling in his Go-Pod. People asked what is that? where did you get it? how do you like it?

Let me tell you: not only do I love the one I bought a few years back, but I LOVE that the president of KidCo agreed to give one to a lucky one of you. What a nice company!

But first, allow me to tell you what it is not and what it is.

It’s not an exersaucer that takes up your whole living room and has strobe lights.

It’s not a walker (THOSE ARE NOT SAFE!!!).

>>> see those spindly legs in the background? Not the potty toilet, the black plastic legs. That’s what the bottom of it looks like. There’s even a canvas down there to catch the spit up or other bodily fluids.

It is a baby stashing device that also folds up and can be carried along anywhere or stored easily in your closet. Think: sports event chair. Canvas sack et al. Yup, same here.

It is soft and comfortable so that they can either bear weight on their legs, or just laze backwards.

It does have loops for you to latch a zillion toys to so the baby won’t go insane while you run to the freezer for some gelato. Or do laundry real quick. Or wipe your toddler.

My sister originally told me about it years back. I used it sparingly with SweetPea because she wasn’t crawling or standing early therefore if I put her some place, I usually had enough lead time to get back to her before she toppled over something onto herself.

This baby? Not so much.

He rolled over at four days old, crawled before six months, and on the eve of his seventh monthaversary is standing for long periods of time, pulling himself up, edging around furniture, and crawling like a banshee.

The Go-Pod has been my sanity. It’s better than a pack & play because he doesn’t have the real estate to get despondent if I’m dealing with Mr. Big Boy Tantrums for a few minutes. It’s a self-contained universe. He has a bunch of toys hooked up to it, can sit or stand, can’t go anywhere, and even can lean on back if he so pleases. Even if he’s insanely despondent, he is contained and safe until I can get back to him.

I’m so delighted to share about Kid Co with you. They have a number of other promising products like the PeaPod for travel sleeping (like camping! but encased!) and this whole line of gates. I need to get something along these lines because BabyLoves now bolts for the stairs in the kitchen–he wants up, all the time. And crawled up two the other day before I could get to him. {I KNOW.} I prefer him contained.

First, ha, I think I’m the very first entry! woohoo! 🙂

Second, I’ve been loving/wanting the PeaPod Plus for awhile now. It’s on my Amazon Wish List. Oh and of course the Go-Pod too!

  2. Ronni on December 17, 2014 at 12:31 am

and hmm….for the Bib Bandit, I think I like the Holiday Chevron the best.

  3. RachelLouise on December 17, 2014 at 12:56 am

How oh how did I not know these existed?! We don’t have much space for a bulky exersaucer in our one bedroom apartment, but this is perfection! (Not to mention ideal for visiting both sets of grandparents!) Thank you for the rec AND a chance to win – fingers crossed!

  4. RachelLouise on December 17, 2014 at 12:58 am

ps- I would pick this GoPod (for reasons stated above) though I have to admit the feeding sets look especially attractive as we start solids with our little man!

  5. Kathleen on December 17, 2014 at 4:00 am

Thank you for this, Nell! I’ve been intrigued by the go-pods for several years now but have never sprung on one for our family. I heart that it collapses! The freezer trays for preparing baby food have also been on my wishlist. Thanks!

  6. Kathleen on December 17, 2014 at 4:01 am

As for the Bandit Bibs, I like the folksiness of the old time multicolored check pattern. Could be used by a boy or girl!

  7. Mary on December 17, 2014 at 6:07 am

Ah! This is so great!! Why have I never seen anything like this before. I finally got rid of the exersaucer a few years ago. Ugly, impossible to carry, growing funky things in the toys, and wasn’t worth storing for the few times I used it. But this? Awesome. The fact that it folds up for toting around and in the car is perfect. I think that is my favorite but a runner up would be the play area…but is it bad to admit I might use it to contain our chickens in the yard and not the baby? I also love the red polka dot bib!

  8. Allison on December 17, 2014 at 7:48 am

Awesome! I think my daughter would love the PeaPod Plus too!

  9. Lauren Kavan on December 17, 2014 at 8:04 am

YAY!!! Oh, I am crossing all my fingers and toys that I win this for new baby! Thanks for organizing this Nell!

  10. Caitlyn on December 17, 2014 at 8:09 am

Oh my… the pea pod looks so amazing. We have a few camping trips planned this summer and that would be so perfect for it! Thanks for the heads up (and for scoring such great giveaways – I’m wearing the teething necklace right now! 😉 )

    • Caitlyn on December 17, 2014 at 8:12 am

Oh – and my favorite bib is the old time multicolored check one. Too darling.

  11. kate on December 17, 2014 at 8:09 am

PeaPod Plus. Maybe then Marie-rie would let me put her down alone for a minute or two?!

  12. kate on December 17, 2014 at 8:11 am

Oh, and retro red and teal striped bib for miss drooley chins over here 🙂

  13. Melissa on December 17, 2014 at 8:20 am

I am interested in the locks and latches. My little one is opening everything these days. I am especially into the sliding cabinet lock. I also could use a go pod to put him in while I wipe the toddler or am making breakfast.

  14. Melissa on December 17, 2014 at 8:26 am

I like the blue circle spunk bandit bib. A friend just made me a Christmas bandit bib. I hadn’t used one before and I really like it.

  15. Colleen on December 17, 2014 at 8:32 am

The vintage chevron bandit bib is quite cute. The Go-Pod looks really useful.

  16. Jessica on December 17, 2014 at 8:46 am

I just ordered a pink bib for Polly, it’s a stocking stuffer. And I really need that Go-Pod!

  17. Nicole on December 17, 2014 at 8:53 am

What a great product! I’ve never seen that before!

  18. Megan on December 17, 2014 at 8:55 am

Nell, this looks awesome and so useful for my #3. Thanks.

  19. Stephanie on December 17, 2014 at 8:56 am

This looks wonderful! Perfect for my wiggly little man who doesn’t let mom or daddy put him down much.

  20. Eliese on December 17, 2014 at 8:56 am

Well, we’re living in a house for the first time (vs apartment with first two kids) so we could probably use a safety gatefor the stairs. Keeping a baby away from stairs will be a new experience!

    • Eliese on December 17, 2014 at 9:00 am

Ps Aqua floral bib – so cute.

  21. Laurel on December 17, 2014 at 9:13 am

Just that Go-Pod would be fantastic! The baby is becoming mobile overnight and I need something to keep her contained so I can at least load the washing machine without losing her.

  22. Laurel on December 17, 2014 at 9:18 am

    I <3 the aqua florals.

  23. Tara on December 17, 2014 at 9:35 am

THIS is definitely my fav from KidCo. Would love one of these to bring baby #3 along to big kid #1’s sports games and practices!

  24. Tara on December 17, 2014 at 9:35 am

And another vote for the Aqua floral!

  25. Alicia Copley on December 17, 2014 at 10:10 am

The KidCo products looks really interesting. I especially want to get a gate with a swinging door on it! We’re currently always hopping over the $10 Walmart special, lol.

  26. Alicia Copley on December 17, 2014 at 10:11 am

And, I think the Vintage Horse bandit bib is my fave!

  27. jennifer on December 17, 2014 at 10:38 am

I’m expecting at the end of January – this would be perfect! Thanks!

  28. mamie on December 17, 2014 at 11:05 am

Okay. So. 700 square feet is bursting at the seams with me, hubby, 9year old great Dane, 2.5 year old daughter, and 4.5 month old son. We tolerated sacrificing some space for an exer-saucer with our daughter, but just can’t spare the floor space with a toddler running around. Son is outgrowing the bouncy seat, and needs more action. This. Is. Perfect. Can’t believe I didn’t google this long ago:) go-pod plus just made it on my Christmas wish list! It will be mine! Hahaha!

  29. Sarah @ Two Os Plus More on December 17, 2014 at 11:06 am

The GoPod is already presently on my wish list, so you pretty much read my mind. We own and love the PeaPod Big one, and it’s great for so many purposes.

  30. Sarah @ Two Os Plus More on December 17, 2014 at 11:08 am

Either the Flea Market print or the red with the white polka dots. Obviously I’m predispositioned to love the two I already have – the green grocery and the plaid quilty looking one. They’re our only bibs and our faves.

  31. Kathy Houle on December 17, 2014 at 12:34 pm

The go pod seems much better than the large plastic exersaucer with ask the noises things we have. Love the holiday bibs 🙂

  32. Leah Ceee on December 17, 2014 at 12:37 pm

The magnetic cabinet locks are a life saver too keep my kiddo safe from the cleaners! I have them on my under sink cupboard. They are great.

    • Leah Ceee on December 17, 2014 at 12:42 pm

And the Dr. Seuss bib is adorable.

  33. catherine on December 17, 2014 at 12:37 pm

oh this thing looks awesome! i was always a fan of the exersaucer in theory, but too cumbersome, toys got gross, overstimulating, etc. i would love a go pod!

  34. catherine on December 17, 2014 at 12:39 pm

And my favorite bandit bib has to be “flea market.” Adorable!

  35. Camille on December 17, 2014 at 12:46 pm

Thanks for this! My youngest is a bit too big for this, but the next one is already on the way, so we’ll make use of it soon enough if we win!

  36. Becky S. on December 17, 2014 at 1:10 pm

Oh my gosh!! I want a Go Pod! That would be so great for outside!

  39. Ashley on December 17, 2014 at 1:35 pm

Okay, they have lots of great things! The dreampod would be awesome for my soon to be born baby girl. And the go pod, of course!

  40. Ashley on December 17, 2014 at 1:36 pm

I like the blue spunky circles the best, but it’s not very girly, for my baby girl! Just so cute!

  41. Martha on December 17, 2014 at 2:59 pm

    The Go-Pod looks fabulous!

  42. Martha on December 17, 2014 at 3:01 pm

I like the vintage horses bandit bib!

  43. Bethany on December 17, 2014 at 3:19 pm

love this! we’re having our first baby in April and this would be perfect!

  47. Elizabeth on December 17, 2014 at 8:18 pm

I’d love the Custom Fit Configure Gate and the Hearth Gate! Our living space is so open that it’s been really hard to find gates that will work. The Go-Pod would be pretty great too. 🙂

  48. Elizabeth on December 17, 2014 at 8:20 pm

Favorite bandit bib: red and white polka dots!

  53. jess b on December 18, 2014 at 5:12 am

Love the window mesh covers from kidco. I love having open windows, as weather allows, but with toddlers it makes me nervous!
And from your gorgeous shop I really like the bib with the horses and also the aqua floral, but truly all the fabric choices are adorable!

  54. Hannah Jasmine on December 18, 2014 at 10:00 am

    Pea Pod Plus!

  65. Angela Miceli on January 31, 2015 at 10:30 am

I bought the go pod and I loved it…until after one month it started to rip on all corners!!! We use it exactly as it is supposed to be used, so I was really disappointed. Nell: did you notice this with yours? Just curious…maybe mine was defective!

    • Natural Mama Nell on January 31, 2015 at 12:24 pm

What?? I’m so sorry! I have used mine for multiple kids and never had this. Did you contact them? They should replace that!

      • Angela Miceli on February 3, 2015 at 7:20 am

Hey Nell! Thanks! I did, and they are sending out a replacement. Seems so weird! Oh well, I am glad they are sending another one because we love it. Glad I bought off your amazon too 🙂

        • Natural Mama Nell on February 4, 2015 at 10:04 am

Oh you are too kind to do it! I’m really glad they’re sending a replacement or I would write to them on your behalf and be all “excuuuuyyuse me???” Haha
