7 Quick Takes {This Ain’t the Lyceum’s Hosting!!!}
Hi guys and gals. Did you hear Kelly is SPEAKING at Edel15? She’s a super awesome lady and oh my gosh I can’t tell you how funny she is.
You can tell for yourself as she’s hosting Jen Fulwiler’s 7 Quick Takes–the weekly linkup about 7 quick things in your life for the week. Jen’s busy blowing up the airways interviewing Jim Gaffigan’s wife, Jeanie. Who’s also hilarious.
1. I’m Not Funny
I am not hilarious. At all. In fact, when my brother was visiting the last weekend, I kept thinking, If only I had something really funny to say. I love him so much and wanted to be as witty as my older sister Molly who wasn’t here. Instead my baby burped up in my open praising mouth while I held him overhead. So there you have it.
2. Blessed is She
I’m editing and writing for this daily devotional. If you’re a woman, into scripture, and maybe even Catholic (though I think my non-Catholic friends who like the Bible would enjoy this, too), I hope you’ve subscribed (free, duh) to Blessed is She to get an email everyday.
Really excitingly, Jenna, the brains behind it all, has created this journal for Advent, the four weeks leading up to Christmas. All proceeds of sales go to fund our beautiful site and the printing of the journals. You gotta get one.
3. Working from Home.
Olivia wrote a really great article about how she’s balancing work/life balance as a work at home mom. I am NOT working as much as she is, but trying to find my own balance. Lately it’s been way too many late nights and that, combined with teething baby, means I’m not as productive but also running on fumes. The kids are my first priority during the day, and I need to figure out how to work at night without killing myself. Loved the wisdom from her!
4. Abbots & Beer.
We’re hosting a meet & greet for an Abbot from a monastery in Italy in a few weeks. I may have been carried away with the invite list. We’ll see how many people the house can hold in the winter without the patio on the backyard or Breeze Way. Tight quarters make for more fun listening to him talk and drinking their signature beer, right??? Wish us luck.
5. Belgian Chocolate.
I ate my way through much of a box of Belgian chocolates my sister sent my mom from Belgium when sh was there presenting at a conference. Let’s just say the Belgians do it right. And I have a massive sugar detox in my future. Britt blogged how the Whole 30 diet affected her. I can’t do the whole thing as a nursing mom, but I can try #nosugar30 again!!!!!!!!
6. Jump at the Sun.
You know Scythian, right? The handsome, rugged, amazingly talented musicians? They’re good family friends and when their latest album came out, we got an early download. Gotta tell you, SuperBoy & SweetPea rock out to it EVERY SINGLE DAY. Right now, as I fast type this out, SuperBoy is singing All you New York girls, can you dance the polka?? Download, y’all.
7. Week Eats.
You guys have blown me away with your comments and linkups for my weekly meal planning post that airs Saturdays. I can safely say my husband thanks you supremely and we are eating SO MUCH more interestingly. Keep it coming, tomorrow morning!!!
Volumes one here. Two here. and Three here.
Hop to Kelly for the link up, peeps.
I’m loving Blessed is She 🙂 It’s so nice to have a little devotional with everything I need right there. Especially since I only get about 5 minutes to read it all in the morning before everyone needs me lol
And the running on fumes…yup. And I haven’t even gone back to work yet lol
Isn’t it such a pick me up? I really love it too. And editing I get to read them before anyone–such a special delight. The ladies who donate their time and talents are all true little miracle workers.
The baby does not make your eyes look wrinkled. But that did make me chuckle. Thanks.
I am in the midst of No Sugar November. 4lbs down in 13 days and I’ve cheated.
GIRL! Way to GO!!
So many things to love about this post! I can relate to the eye wrinkles 🙂 can’t wait to hear more about the brewing monks…please share a post with us after that event! Is he a Benedictine by chance? From Norcia? I look forward to hearing the new music you’ve recommended. And chocolate! Tis the season to eat more chocolate! My babe is four months next week, so I have to be careful…which is hard to do.
NORCIA it is!!! And yes–I know all about the chocolate season. I’d like to think this time of life is the chocolate season but my mama hips say no more!
Ohhhhhh yes! The Belgians do know chocolate. We lived there for 9 months, and we took full advantage of that bliss! 🙂
Oh Jamie! How interesting. What an experience. Did you blog about it?
I love Scythian!! At our wedding, my Dad and I danced to a fast-paced jig for our daddy-daughter dance:)
LOVE!!
Monastic beer? Can you ship some to California??
Or that Belgian chocolate?
You’re living the HIGH life!! 🙂
Dear Nell, don’t start that #nosugar30 thing until the new year. It’s not very Catholic to live through the holidays without the ability to indulge in sweets during such festivity. 😉 <3
HAHAH
I love it. Living the high life!!!
