jewels from joules–>that time Nell did a photoshoot in her backyard

joulesMy poor sainted husband. This man. He has to listen to me talk all about my online life, my online friends ((waving)), and now take photos of me in the backyard at 8pm while I’m fake laughing. Bear with me here. {{was I supposed to lighten my teeth? they’re a little yellow. #sorrynotsorry}}

It all started when I met the wonderful ladies from Joules at The 100 Event this summer. Joules is a British company, accent included, that offers lovely high end clothing & accessories for your whole family. And boots. Cannot forget the boots. They sent me this beautiful dress (I’m wearing a slightly different version), this handsome men’s polo shirt, and these stellar vests for SuperBoy & SweetPea. At the conference, we were gifted an amazing bag (see more of their selection here), and will be mailed a pair of their famous boots!

Remember that if you’re on a budget, they have a fabulous and affordable outlet section too!

So we set out to photograph them. The dress, the vests, the whole kit & caboodle. I had an impulse to shower after dinner, and then blow dry my hair, apply two layers of lipstick, my face oils, no eye make because HELLO large glasses!, and then make my husband photograph me. Maybe it wasn’t the best timing? The kids wanted so desperately to help. And then so desperately not to go to sleep after.

First I leaned up against the fence. Then I looked like I had to go to the bathroom. Then I fake laughed loudly while my kids kept asking mama, what’s funny? And then AA asked me about 10 times if this was supposed to be a dress or a shirt. Maybe I left out the requisite leggings??

Then I balanced the camera on the kiddie car & put the self-timer on, meanwhile le bebe started screaming so AA picked him up and looked remarkably over it all (they both did–so much for our family modeling career).

The dress is a great tunic number, lightweight cotton, with buttons to the belly button (perfect for the nursing mom like me), and fits our lumpy parts beautifully in the midsection. Love the weight and hand of the fabric! High quality clothing for a special outfit!!

Then, AA. He really didn’t like being my model, but he really loved the polo that’s slim fit. He’s a slim guy and polos are always too boxy on him. Not this one. #theynailedit.

And now–what you’ve all been waiting for: the kids! the kids!

When I first talked with Joules about these vests, I thought they’d be perfect at the Lodge. A perfect outdoor photoshoot in the great outdoors. Remember the pics I snapped last time we were out with the kids? But then I realized, most of my friends are urban folks. City farmers. Like us. So here we are around town in their vests.

joules vestsI love that hers is quilted. I love that it zips AND snaps. She loves the deep pockets and stuffed them with her hoarding items immediately. His is a cleaner fit without the extra snaps, with a simple big zipper he could do himself. He loved the way it shrouded his neck and protected it from “everything.” I’m definitely buying one for the baby for this fall.

    Just checked out the joules site! LOVE the sweet onesie for my chunky monkey (5 months old but wearing 6-12 month clothing to accommodate his buxom self). I am digging some of their outerwear too-let’s be honest, winter is coming to MN sooner than later so staying warm AND cute is key (plus, it will fit my ever-changing postpartum bod) 🙂 Thanks for sharing the giveaway love-great modeling session BTW 🙂

    Why are the European clothes so much cuter (…and so much more expensive)??? I love the baby girl jersey dresses. I just might have to make splurge purchase.

    Love those vests for the fall and love cozy baby sleepers! #2 is arriving this winter, so it would be great to have a romper ready to go.

    I love the JNR MARCOTTE Girls Quilted Hooded Coat. I’ve been looking for a coat for my daughter that’s feminine but not too girly, and this fits the description. Most coats I find are shiny puffer coats or have animal prints. Not a fan of either.

    Love the Womens Shirt Tunic, Indigo Herringbone for me! And the sweet heart on the Girls Striped Top, Grey Stripe for my little lady!

    I discovered Joules while living in the UK. Love them, and wore their wellies as my snow boots while over there! I’m a fan of their wellies and gillets and quilted jackets. And their floral patterns are lovely.

    Hi! I’m super in love with the whole women’s line, but I’ve never looked at the baby clothes- cause I’m a selfish, selfish momma 😉 – and uh oh! The rompers are darling, especially the little boy’s fox embroidered one. Thanks for the giveaway- That dress is so lovely on you!
